New England College Receives Three CCNH Awards

Three members of the New England College Community have received Presidents’ Awards from the Campus Compact for New Hampshire (CCNH).

CCNH Presidents’ Awards
Each spring, the awards recognize campus and community members who serve as catalysts for positive change. Among those honored are college students; higher-education faculty, staff, and administrators; and representatives of local K–12 schools and nonprofits.

The presidents of Campus Compact for New Hampshire’s member colleges and universities nominate award candidates. CCNH presents awards on the basis of outstanding contributions to education and opportunity in New Hampshire.

• The Presidents’ Leadership Award honors a student or student organization that has made outstanding contributions to community and/or civic engagement efforts on their campus.
• The Presidents’ Good Steward Award goes to a faculty, administration, or staff member who is dedicated to campus-community engagement.
• The Presidents’ Community Partner Award honors a nonprofit organization that has partnered with a CCNH member campus to enhance community life in meaningful and measurable ways.

New England College’s Award Recipients:

Presidents’ Leadership Award
Javaughn Taylor

Javaughn is an enthusiastic and considerate NEC senior who has been actively engaged in the NEC campus and community. He is a double major in Computer Information Systems and Game and Digital Media Design. His campus activities include being a resident assistant, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honors Society, a student pub event coordinator, an esports athlete, and Vice President of Student Engagement in the Student Senate. In his Senate role, Javaughn has exhibited a great level of dedication and professionalism. He always has a great demeanor and consistently demonstrates a respectful treatment of students and staff. He has been an outstanding role model for NEC students.

Presidents’ Good Steward Award
Dr. Stanley Horton

Beyond his duties as Director of the Office of Student Conduct, Stan works tirelessly on behalf of students and the NEC community, promoting and being involved in all types of campus activities. He has been heavily involved in our COVID response team and all on-campus testing for the past three years. He has been a member of the Staff Executive Council helping to promote staff welfare on campus. He exhibits a constant effort for the betterment of students in countless campus activities such as the Majors Fair, Community Wednesday, Sophomore Year Initiatives, NEC Takes Over the Peak, and River Day, and he serves as the advisor to Senior Class Council. He is an extremely dedicated and consummate NEC professional who is very deserving of this recognition.

Presidents’ Community Partner Award
American Legion Post 78

The American Legion Post 78 has been a consistent and constant supporter of the local toy drive hosted on campus and in the community each year. They have worked with the town to support the Hometown Heroes Banner program to honor fallen soldiers. They are active members of the suicide prevention program by participating in the buddy check program. They have been welcoming and inclusive of our student veterans and faculty/staff population by including them in events and in their community. We have been honored to work together with the American Legion to support veterans in our local community.
