Famed Author to Deliver Commencement Address to 2023 Graduating Class
Ron Chernow, Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose work inspired the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, to receive honorary doctorate
Famed biographer Ron Chernow—author of Alexander Hamilton, The House of Morgan, and Grant among others—has been named the Commencement Speaker for New England College’s 2023 graduation ceremony in May. In addition, the New England College Board of Trustees has authorized the awarding of the Doctor of Humane Letters honoris causa to Chernow in recognition of his literary achievements.
Chernow’s accolades include the National Book Award for The House of Morgan, the George S. Eccles Prize for The Warburgs, the Pulitzer Prize for Biography for Washington: A Life and the blockbuster Broadway adaptation of Alexander Hamilton.
“As a longtime student and lover of American history, I am thrilled to welcome Mr. Chernow to NEC,” stated Dr. Wayne Lesperance Jr., President of New England College. “I believe he will inspire our graduating class with the promise of all that awaits them as they begin the next chapter of their lives. And I really hope he performs part of the Hamilton musical like he has done before. That would be amazing.”
New England College will celebrate its 75th graduating class on Saturday, May 6, at 10:00 a.m. on the Simon Lawn in Henniker, New Hampshire.
