“Every day is a great day for hockey.” These words from NHL legend Mario Lemieux could also serve as the motto of Sis Paulsen’s life. Paulsen is in Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympics, serving as equipment manager for Team USA’s Women’s Ice Hockey team.

Paulsen served as the Head Coach of New England College’s women ice hockey team from 2009–2013. In 2011, she earned her Master of Science in Sports and Recreation Management from NEC.

While earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin (UW), Paulsen played on UW’s inaugural women’s hockey team from 1999–2003. Her player accolades include three-year team captain, Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) All-Rookie team in 2000, All-WCHA selection in 2003, and 130 points on 42 goals and 88 assists. Her scoring record marks a UW women’s hockey program best by a defenseman and places her 15th in UW history among all skaters. Paulsen is now in her fifth season as the Director of Operations/Equipment Manager for UW’s women’s hockey team. In this role, she helps set up her team for success by coordinating the team’s schedule and travel and by purchasing and maintaining the team’s equipment.

Paulsen’s other professional roles include coaching positions at Minnesota State University; Bemidji State University; and the New York Riveters in Newark, New Jersey. She also served as the Director of Girls Hockey for the New Jersey Colonials and as a USA Hockey Girls/Women’s Section Representative for the Atlantic District.

NEC congratulates Paulsen on her accomplishments and wishes her and Team USA’s Women’s Ice Hockey team much success in the 2022 Winter Olympics.
