Ten Pilgrims Named to NFHCA 2023 Division III National Academic Squad
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the 2023 Division III National Academic Squad on Wednesday, recognizing 10 members of the New England College field hockey team.
The NFHCA National Academic Squad program celebrates the academic excellence of undergraduate collegiate student-athletes. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon individuals who have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current academic year and who have been nominated by their dedicated NFHCA member coaches. Overall, the NFHCA recognized 1,783 students across 154 institutions who met these criteria.
Hailing from the NEC field hockey team, 10 student-athletes were recognized with this honor: freshman Grace Bannon (Campton, N.H.), freshman Leah Bohling (Chesapeake, Va.), freshman Lauren Hall (Belfast, Maine), sophomore Martina Hill (Abbot, Maine), freshman Neila Jones (Rowley, Mass.), freshman Adelaide Kelly (Brockport, Maine), sophomore Cristina Manzi (Peapack, N.J.), sophomore Isabella Marzano (Warwick, R.I.), junior Meaghan McCamish (Warwick, R.I.), and freshman Amy Philbin (Long Island, N.Y.).
McCamish has now been named to the NFHCA Academic Squad in all three consecutive years, while Marzano has earned this recognition for the second straight year.
“These students have worked extremely hard in the classroom and on the field,” said head coach Carly Sweeney. “They deserve this recognition for their diligence and work ethic. We are extremely proud to have this group of young women representing New England College.”
